Inspiring story that motivates me!
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
In this post, I will be sharing about a very inspiring story about this one companion of Rasulullah S.A.W.
Before i start i want to ask one question, do you guys know this one sahabah called Abu aqil Ansari?
It's okay, today I will share about him with you guys, so stay tuned!
Abu Aqil Ansari ( رضي الله عنه )
Abu Aqil Ansari رضي الله عنه was one of those companions of the Prophet ﷺ who had the smallest of pockets but the biggest of hearts. When Muhammad ﷺ asked Muslims to bring forth their sadaqah (charity) for the expedition of Tabuk, he had nothing to give.
So did he gave up? NO!
He went looking for work and found a job with a Jew who needed some water hauling. Because of that, Abu Aqil was the last one to come forth with charity. He said: `O Allah’s Messenger! This is a Sa` of dates (a small container) . I spent the night bringing water and earned two small containers of dates for my work. I kept one container (for my family) and brought you the other container.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered him to spread it over all the charity (that others brought). His sadaqah was little but carried the weight of Uhud mountain. Some men mocked Abu Aqil, saying, `Allah and His Messenger are not in need of this charity. What benefit would this Sadaqah of yours bring’. They laughed at him.
Then, Allah revealed the verse from surah taubah :
There are˺ those who slander ˹some of˺ the believers for donating liberally and mock others for giving only the little they can afford. Allah will throw their mockery back at them, and they will suffer a painful punishment. (Verse 79)
So from this story, what we can learn from it:
Firstly, Abu Aqil Ansari didn’t limit himself to what he didn’t have. so , don't ever limit ourselves and stay in our comfort zone. Always challenge ourselves to be a better and better person in the future.
Secondly, Always do charity, sadaqah. It doesn't matter even if it will be just a little one, nothing is too small in front of Allah as long as our intentions are pure. May Allah accept our sadaqah – little and big – .
That's it from me. I hope you guys gain benefits from this story and thank you for listening!
